Historical Recognition

This archive would not exist in its present form without the Miami graffiti websites that came before it.

During the 1990s and early 2000s, a number of independent graffiti and hip-hop websites documented writers, crews, artwork, photographs, and scenes that might otherwise have been lost to time. Many of these sites are no longer online, but their influence and the material they preserved remain an important part of Miami graffiti’s digital history.

Some of the earliest inspiration for my own photography and documentation came from these sites. Seeing people document their local scenes motivated me to do the same in Miami, and ultimately helped shape the idea behind this archive.

With respect and appreciation, Crushing Miami recognizes the following sites and their contributions to the early online Miami graffiti community: Beyond Extreme (The Belab), The Real Miami, The View from Below, FUKJBURKE, Vandalized, B-Boys (B-Boys.com), X2Project, Pure Graffiti and 12ozProphet.

These sites are listed here for historical recognition only. Unless otherwise stated, this archive is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or claiming ownership of any of these websites, their names, photographs, artwork, or other materials.

Their work helped establish a digital record of graffiti culture at a time when much of it was temporary, undocumented, and easily lost. This archive exists in part because they showed us why documenting it mattered.
